TEHRAN -- Three Iranian films will be screened at the Bangkok International Film Festival, which is to be held from February 17 to 27.

The Iranian films “Gilaneh” directed by Rakhshan Bani-Etemad and “Daybreak” directed by Hamid Rahmanian will be screened in the Windows on the World Section of the festival.

Another Iranian film, “Heidar, an Afghan in Iran” directed by Babak Jalali, will be shown in the Asian Short Films Section, along with several other films including “Mrs. Henderson Presents” directed by Stephen Frears, “River Queen” by Vincent Ward, “Sympathy for Lady Vengeance” by Chan-wook Park, “The Consequences of Love” by Paolo Sorrentino, “Transamerica” by Duncan Tucker, “Tsotsi” by Gavin Hood, and “Water” by Deepa Mehta.

The event has several other sections including the ASEAN Competition, Cinematographers’ Day, German Animations, International Documentaries, New Voices, Reel World, and Special Presentations.

The film “Rent” directed by Chris Columbus is scheduled to be screened during the closing ceremony of the festival at the Bangkok Conrad Hotel.

The film, based on Jonathan Larson's Pulitzer Prize-winning revolutionary rock opera “Rent”, tells the story of a group of bohemians struggling to express themselves through their art and measuring their lives in love.
